Faustus Furius

All has been a bit quite here of late on the wargaming front as my day-job work load has been pretty heavy and I have had little time for painting or for playing. Having said that, I have found a few moments to work on the finishing touches of the chariot game I have been developing for Ganesha Games. Once given the working title Bread and Circuses, it is to be officially known as Faustus Furius.

Faustus Furius is a fast and furious, tongue in cheek table-top racing game based very loosely around the chariot races of the ancient world and adaptable to any racing situation.

Designed for 2-8 participants, it allows players to pit chariots (or any other vehicles) from any culture or period against one another in a no-holds-barred race to fame and glory.

Due for release mid-2016, a few sample pages are provided below.

  1. hey,
    it's looks very interesting.

do you think it could be adapted for "car wars apocayptic games like Mad Max ?
i'm working on a "song of " version for this kind of period.

can't wait to read your rules
    cheers

    1. Yes, the rules can easily be moved to a different setting. They work on a streamlined variant of the traditional Ganesha mechanic with limited sets of actions and a simplified attack system. Vehicles are designated as belonging to one of seven classes (fast, agile, heavy archer etc) which each give one positive and one negative trait, so fast vehicles are potentially faster, but find it more difficult to take sharp turns, agile chariots are better at making sharp turns, but are harder to manage when they go 'out of control'. I'm sure the classes could be easily applied to any vehicles.

  2. hey,
i have classed my cars between severals items like yours : ultra light, light, normal, heavy ones with some or heavy protections...

In the past, i had created a speed race for spermatozoa for a lot of fun at our club. May be i'll translate this game into "song of "style rules.

    Many thank for your reply
    cheers

  3. Had our first game last night with 2 friends - hilarious, chariots overturning, mobs running on the track and I ended up going the wrong way round. We are all going out to buy our own racing chariots. Well done, simple rules that give a fun and challenging game.
